Perchance To Read...?
Rare & delightful books & manuscripts of all vintages, varieties, subjects, and persuasions!

John Granacki, Master of Space & Time

My bookshelves are the centermost of the three columns directly behind Old Town Mall's cashier island. I'll try to keep recent pictures of what I've got on my shelves in my slideshows, and I plan to start blogging both my new additions and want-list very soon (as soon as this website's blog feature gets up and running...), so if books and/or reading happen to be your thing you should check back often — or better yet, make a habit of strolling through Old Town every day or two and get a really good one before anyone else finds it first!

Comment Heading Test
One more test post, to see how the optional comment heading looks.

This is another test post, just to make sure the system can handle multiple entries. Voila!

This is a test of the Rogue Planet Network's proprietary cross-domain comment bar -- one simple log-in and one familiar form allows you to comment on everything from Old Town Antique Mall Vendors and their stuff, to First Friday Art Night exhibits and other local events, to our area's finer parks & hiking trails. (By the way, the PERCHANCE TO READ bookshelves have got some really great outdoorsy books — trail guides, mining journals, and nature guides covering everything from birds to wildflowers — some priced quite reasonably!)

About John Granacki

I like to say that I've been living in the Grants Pass area since I was three years old, and in fact I first began indulging in the caveman lifestyle back around 1961, except for the minor inconvenience of my dad having to work in the bay area and myself thus having to attend school there. Nevertheless, my family spent the best two to four weeks (occasionally more) of each and every year in or about Grants Pass, up until making our occupation a full-time affair in the early 80's.

So I suppose I should say that I've lived here for half of my life, but it feels like much more than that...

My Mom (Peggy to those of you who don't know her as 'Mom') founded the Old Town Antique Mall, but now days my Sister Janice is the head honcho. Besides being one of the mall's book peddlers, I'm also more-or-less responsible for this web site, so if you've got an issue with it, send me a postcard. If that doesn't work, try email.

I've always been something of a book worm, and one of my earliest notable acheivements was talking my parents into buying a new set of encyclopedias when I was six years old, and then actually reading it!

I dabble and deal in that which I myself like to read, and though once upon a galaxy far far away I was a dedicated sci-fi guy, I now leave that to my Old Town colleague Mr. William Slater (vendor #26) whose shelves are immediately to the left of my own (and those are my Mom's books on the right!) Now days I focus mostly on non-fiction, in a broad variety of subject matter, though I especially try to keep up on local history & indian lore, local authors & signed volumes, and those subjects which draw a strong local interest -- from both genuine locals and tourists alike -- mining, fishing, hiking, birdwatching, and all that fun outdoorsy stuff! Oh yes, and picture books, of course; after all, these days who has time to read?!?

"Shelf Presence"
That's what I'm talking about...
  Now Showing:   Bookshelves in Springtime!

These photos of my book shelves at Old Town were taken very recenty -- on Valentines Day -- so if you hurry there might still be a few of these fantastic out of print titles left!
